I love to try to write and express myself, but I have a very hard time because I'm not very literate. I'm very bad at spelling and I don't have a big vocabulary.
Do any of you guys have suggestions on how I could expand my vocabulary and my literacy. Other than trying harder in school(I know that one)

Read. A lot. Just read.
And write stuff like Shirley method!
Read Read Read. I agree with Jack, if you want a large vocabulary READ. It will help with any writing problems you encounter. It will give you a larger vocabulary, help with spelling, and even grammar if you pay attention. You will be able to get great story (depending on the book) hopefully in the bargain. Practice your writing, and make sure it is correct.
Reading really is the key. I'd also agree with Bronte, when you do write make sure you practice correctly. If you practice a skill incorrectly, you will simply be reinforcing bad habits.
